Spiral Gauges

Spiral gauges are some of the best options you have when it comes to finding a unique and truly one-of-a-kind look with your body jewelry. These are a particularly interesting choice if you’ve reached your goal ear stretch size and want to expand your plug collection beyond the basics.

You can find plenty of options that would work for you with our array of options when it comes to spiral gauges in our online store.

The Spiral Gauges and Plugs Collection

Here at Custom Plugs, we have unique and interesting choices of spiral plugs to choose from.

These include two major styles in our store: larger plugs that are made into a spiral shape and simple flat-faced double flare plugs that have a spiral etching on their face. Both options create cool effects and mean you’ll be able to find something to fit your personal style and preferences.

Our glass spiral gauges come in clear and iridescent effects, whilst our wood spiral plugs come in high-quality Crocodile or Saba wood. We also have black spiral gauges and plugs for those who want an option that matches everything! For spiral plugs you can also get both convex and flat double flare.

We also sell custom options so that you can get the design, colour, or look that you want – whether it’s a gift or you’ve got your heart set on something specific!

What materials do we sell spiral gauges and plugs in?

One of the best things about wearing plugs and gauges is that you get the chance to experiment with different materials. This is also especially important if you have certain sensitivities, which is why we offer our swirl gauges and spiral plugs in both wooden and spiral glass plugs options.

Generally spiral gauges aren’t used for actual stretching but glass gauges and plugs are suitable for healing ears. Just make sure if you’re still healing or stretching, not to wear wood plugs or gauges which are porous and can lead to an infection.

Note: We don’t currently offer bone spiral gauges or faux spiral gauges at the moment!

What sizes/gauges do our spiral gauges and plugs come in?

Here at Custom Plugs, we offer plenty of different sizes for our spiral ear gauges, and while not every design is available in every size, these are the common sizes that we offer our spiral plugs in: 6g, 14g, 12g, 10g, 8g, 6g, 4g, 2g, 1g, 0g, 00g, 7/16", 1/2", 9/16", 5/8", 3/4", 7/8", 1", 28mm, 29mm, 30mm, 32mm, 34mm, 36mm, 38mm, 40mm, 42mm, 44mm, 46mm, 47mm, 48mm, 50mm, 0 gauge plugs, and 2 gauge plugs.

What is the proper name for gauges?

The word “Gauge” actually means stretched earlobes but people often refer to the jewellery when they speak of gauges. “The gauge” is the size of the piercing and is shortened as “g”.

Can you wear spiral tapers as jewelry?

Yes spiral tapers can be used as both jewellery and as a stretching taper but be careful not to catch them on anything!

What kind of gauges are best for your ears?

During stretching, it’s very important that you choose materials that are good for healing ears, since each new stretch starts a healing process. Glass is an excellent material to use. You can change materials once your ear has healed.

Are spiral tapers good for stretching?

Tapers are good to use when stretching up sizes between 14 and 0 gauge. However, you're best using insertion pins to stretch your ears. That way you can chase the taper with a plug and don't have to wear a taper which can get caught.
